Old Draft Horse In Spring

New Wilmington, Pennsylvania is about 12 miles west of my farm and is home to a large population of Old Order Amish.

I went there yesterday to see if I could buy some rawhide lacing to repair my favorite moccasin shoes from a local harness repair shop, but the shop was closed.
It was such a nice spring day that I decided to take the long way home and I happened upon this old mare who was enjoying the fine day too.

Katherine Grossman

Katherine Grossman was born and raised in the greater Washington, D.C area. But for the last 30 years Mrs. Grossman has lived a life of deliberate self-reliance in rural western Pennsylvania. She loves to garden, knit mittens; makes a killer meatloaf and has been known to deliver triplet lambs with her eyes closed.
